The 1.9 TDI was one of the best diesel engines on the market when it was new (the current 2.0-liter TDI unit replaced it in the early 2010s). As a result, there aren’t a lot of options that are on the same footing, but that’s not to say there’s none.
01/14/2022 by Bryce Cleveland. The EA188 engine family includes the 2.0 TDI engine. This is a redesigned 1.9-liter TDI engine. The 2.0-liter TDI diesel engine was the first Volkswagen diesel engine having four valves per cylinder, and it was used in the 2004 Golf, Passat, and other vehicles. Gray cast iron is used to make the cylinder block.
TDI. 01 Beetle. Jan 5, 2008. #2. SMF = single mass flywheel. DMF = dual mass flywheel. The smf is a solid flywheel like most cars have, and they use a clutch disc with springs (damping) in it. The DMF is a dampened flywheel, two pieces that have springs between, and uses a clutch disc with no springs (damping).
1.9 TDI with 77 kW / 105 hp. 2.0 TDI with 103 kW / 140 hp. 2.0 TDI with 125 kW / 170 hp. The 1.9TDI will be acceptable but not exactly fast. The 170bhp 2.0TDI is a much better engine - all around quicker and a lot more "eager" feeling. The turbo lag however, is quite noticable.
TDI. 2015 Passat, titanium beige, 6MT. May 30, 1999. #5. G-12 is a ethylene glycol based coolant. You do not have to buy Autobahn G-12 coolant at over $10.00 per gallon. Texaco makes G-12 for VAG as they also make Dex Cool for GM. We can use any coolant that is Dex Cool compatable.
Only TSI engines are equipped with superchargers. TSI is less expensive and lighter than TDI. The horsepower of TSI engines is likewise higher. TDI, a diesel engine, however, generates higher torque. TSI engines are exclusively available in VW automobiles. Major auto manufacturers use TDIs.
