There's a Mount & Blade: Warband mod called Full Invasion 2, which has a crapload of factions in it, and features players in a defensive position vs. AI invasion. FI2's factions include all of the races you'd expect to find in Middle Earth. There's an active server that only runs Lord of the Rings battles, and I play there almost every day.
